Shrewsbury School Essay Competition Day
Five Elms students shortlisted for The Sir Philip Sidney Essay Competition were treated to a day at Shrewsbury on Thursday.
After a delicious lunch, they sat down to a series of fascinating and entertaining mini-lectures from staff focused upon the essay theme of threats to humanity. Following this, they then had a chance to take part in a series of fun, interactive workshops based upon the lectures.
Should they have been feeling a trifle faint after all that thinking, they were then treated to a full afternoon tea!
The children enjoyed themselves immensely and got a fantastic opportunity to interact with forty children from all over the region on an intellectual level. Whilst we did not win any prizes, the fact that we were shortlisted from a substantial field, over one hundred and twenty applicants, is something in itself to celebrate.
