This year the Malvern Autumn Show hosted both the Young Pig of the Year and Champion of Champions Gloucester Old Spot Competitions respectively. In order to qualify for the Young Pig of the Year competition your January born Gilt/Boar had to win its breed class at a reputable show Nationwide and then beat every other breed of pig at that particular show in a qualifying class, thus making just getting to this competition an achievement in itself! We succeeded in getting both a boar and a gilt to this competition this year which we were delighted by and is a credit to all the hard work so many of our children have put into the pigs over this year’s showing season. Will Hooper and his little gilt went one step further on Sunday and were awarded Reserve Champion! Will showed his pig exceptionally well showing full control and they both did us very proud. Ollie Hooper then joined his brother in showing two of our gilts in the Gloucester Old Spot Champion of Champions competition which again was an event we had to qualify for in previous shows. Ollie did a great job showing his gilt however Will was awarded Reserve Champion for the second time for his superstar gilt. It was a truly special way to round off a very successful showing season which so many of our children enjoyed taking part in. I now look forward to seeing what next year has install for us on the show circuit with the hope that even more children will come and give it a go!
