Reporting to the Headmaster, The Head of Equestrian will assume lead responsibility for the safe and successful provision of riding and the operation of the stables at The Elms, in accordance with the aims of the school and reflecting the importance of riding within it.
The Elms is a registered Pony Club Centre. Many pupils bring their own ponies or share ponies at school, where they help to look after them. There is a strong support network to help ensure that the children learn about caring for ponies and to ensure that they gain a wide experience of riding in a variety of disciplines. We cater from beginners to experienced riders and so we need to able to be able to teach a full range of abilities. Some pupils represent the Elms through NSEA competitions and go on to BS/BE.
Coaching qualifications (BHS/UKCC or equivalent) and coaching experience are required. Experience of teaching at all levels through Pony Club/Riding Club would be an advantage. Their own level of riding needs to enable them to school ponies if necessary.
The Head of Equestrian will be expected to be available on site at short notice in the event of an emergency and to cover for Equestrian staff holidays or absences and to facilitate external lets during holiday periods.
Closing date for receipt of applications is Friday 6th December at midday.
Interviews will be held shortly after the closing date.
